HAIFES  project is a Grundtvig Partnership for Learning financed by European Union .

HAIFES is the acronym title of the project  :Hobby As an Integrating Factor for European Society 

The aims of the project:

- getting know new kind of hobby and European citizens interests  

- identifying and learning new methods in informal education of adults

- developing educational, interpersonal and social competences

- motivating learners to active participation in the social life, through artistic workshops, through hobby presentation , through educational meetings and cultural events

Activities:

- participation in different kind of artistic workshops

- presentation of various kind of the hobby by adult learners

- participation in hobby exhibitions, festivities, cultural events

- organizing educational visits to artistic studios in the aim to know handicraft objects

- organizing meetings with folk artistic creators

- organizing visits to museums, palaces, castles to know hobby from different centuries

INTERNATIONAL FUE MEETING IN MADEIRA – MAY 2012
AIMS
1 – Collect material about the flower festival and know the Portuguese traditions and history.
2 – Develop social competences.
3 – Exchange experiences about plantation of flowers and agriculture as an Hobby

ACTIVITIES
1 – Study visit to Madeira Botanical Garden
2 – Study visit to Monte Palace Tropical Garden – Private Garden that belongs to Berardo Foundation.
3 – Meeting with local learners and getting to know the profile of the institution and the HAIFES activities.




4 – Visit the local typical places related with flowers and traditional agriculture.

5 – Study visits to historical places in Funchal, capital of Madeira, to know about the Madeiran history and culture (Wine Museum, Embroidery museum)


6 – Study trail to Pico do Arieiro, the second highest mountain in Madeira, were the HAIFES participants could study endemic species of flowers and birds.


7 – Presentation of a power point about the ethonobotanic workshop with the participation of seniors and the international participants.


9 – Power point presentation about endemic plants of participating countries.


10 – Working sessions for final report



RESULTS:
1 – Collection of material about unique flowers festival (photos, films)
2 – New Power Point presentation about international HAIFES meeting in Madeira
3 – Awareness of  Madeiran traditions and flowers festivals.
4 – Information about the local curriculum supported by local authorities for senior people in Madeira.
5 – Knowledge about Laurissilva Forest, World Heritage Site by UNESCO among HAIFES partners.
6 – Knowledge about sustainable development, and environment issues, related to our HAIFES Project.
